I noticed a young man’s odd gait as he and a friend approached me this warm December morning. As he got closer I noticed the funny grin on his face before understanding that his odd gait was in fact a joyous type of dancing. My polite grin that I give fellow walkers turned into a full blown smile as I saw his selfless love for humanity expressed outwardly.
“Finally! A smile” I heard him joyfully proclaim to his friend as they passed me.
I immediately though.. How sad, that it was only ‘finally’ that he got a smile…
So often we have our eyes down in our small insular worlds. Even if not on our phones, usually we are thinking about a million things and sadly others can be the last thing on our minds.
I am so thankful for that young man, what a gift he gives by being silly in the street, for the singular reason of bringing joy to others.
Lord, let my heart prepare room
And my life make a way
For your coming to my world
